Psychodynamic psychotherapy will help you to think about the feelings you have about yourself – and other people – particularly family, friends and colleagues. It will help you to face issues and causes (often from long ago) which may weigh on you, or unknowingly affect your relationship with yourself and others. It is derived from psychoanalysis.
The process and work is about getting to the root of the issue. You will be encouraged to talk freely and to explore all the parts of you – both the positive and the things with which you would like help and support.
Psychodynamic psychotherapy allows you to learn more about your feelings, behaviours and actions. It can help you understand why you expect to be treated in a certain way and how such expectations impact on your current relationships and your mental health. You will be able to see patterns, work through issues and become more resilient.
When change happens, clients can feel more alive to life, which can contribute to a better relationship with themselves and others.
It is usual for sessions to be at a regular day and time every week and last 50 minutes. You can talk about anything you like at each session - it is your time. We will have one or more preliminary consultations before we decide how best to proceed.
