Martina Klich
Psychodynamic Psychotherapist NHS and private practice.

Martina Klich

Psychoanalysis is about helping someone to become who they are and what they want to be. As a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, that is at the heart of the work I offer.
I work with people who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or held back by feelings and patterns they may not fully understand. Together, we explore what lies beneath — the experiences, relationships, and emotions, often rooted in the past, that quietly shape how you live and how you feel about yourself and others.
My approach is thoughtful, unhurried, and deeply personal. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, loss, relationship difficulties, or something you find hard to name, therapy offers a space to think freely, feel more fully, and begin to change.
Throughout my career I have worked with people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, countries, religious beliefs and sexualities. I believe that who you are — where you come from, what you believe, how you live — matters deeply in the therapeutic relationship, and I bring genuine care and attentiveness to understanding each person's unique world. Whoever you are, and whatever has brought you to this point, you are welcome here.
I trained at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust and work both in private practice in Kentish Town, London, and online. I also work within the NHS at St Pancras Hospital. I am a member of the Tavistock Society of Psychotherapists (TSP), the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP).

Psychodynamic psychotherapy has a strong evidence base.
The process and work is about getting to the root of the issue. You will be encouraged to explore all the parts of you – both the positive and the things with which you would like help and support.
Psychodynamic psychotherapy allows you to learn more about your feelings, behaviours and actions. It can help you understand why you expect to be treated in a certain way and how such expectations impact on your current relationships and your mental health. You will be able to see patterns, work through issues and become more resilient.
Although painful feelings and experiences cannot be avoided, it is possible to try to understand them, and to find more helpful ways of relating to them. Seeking therapy can be a move towards trying to understand yourself more fully and towards trying to take more control over how you live your life. Psychodynamic psychotherapy can help whether you are feeling stuck in a particular area of your life, or utterly overwhelmed and unable to function.
I offer clients a free 15 minute phone call before booking a consultation. This is not a session, but it allows me to answer any questions you may have.
We will then agree on a day and time to meet for a preliminary consultation which may take two or three sessions. Each consultation lasts 50 minutes; it is an opportunity for us to explore the reasons that have brought you to therapy and provide you with a sense of how therapy works. If you have concerns or questions about embarking on a course of therapy, this is an opportunity to discuss them with me.
Once the consultation sessions are over, we will discuss the best course of treatment for you. If we agree to work together, sessions will be at a regular day and time every week, which is held only for you and lasts 50 minutes. We will agree on a session fee.
It varies. If you are interested in working on a deeper level with issues that have been around for much of your life, we will work together in an open ended way.
I also offer short-term work of 6-12 sessions if there is a specific issue you would like to work on.
I work both in person and online.
